How to Leverage Social Media for Your Business

There is no denying that social media has become an important part of modern life. Everyone seems to have at least one social media account, and very often they have more than one. The very nature of social media is it allows users to connect to one another directly, makes it useful for your business as it provides a way for you to build strong and meaningful relationships with your target audience, whether its existing customers or prospective ones.

Perhaps the biggest advantage of social media and by extension social media marketing is that it costs a lot less, in general, to run campaigns and to take specific strategies. Particularly when compared to more conventional advertising and marketing avenues. On all of the most popular social media platforms, you will find millions and millions of active users. How can you leverage these advantages? That’s what we are going to discuss briefly in the following post.

Have an Active and Engaging Presence

As another key advantage to social media and why it is so popular is that it is easy to use, anyone can set up a page for their business. However, just having a social media account for your business is not enough to reap any real benefits from it. Like any kind of tool, you need to know how to use it properly.

With social media, that means you need to be active and engage with your target audience. Whatever your end goal is, whether you want them to book your services or buy your products, you need to encourage them to interact with you. That’s only possible if you post regularly, reply to comments, and run special competitions and events and provide your audience something to engage with.

Establish Connections

A little effort is needed, often, to get customers to share their experiences of your brand, its products, or services. Just because your target audience is not sharing good experiences about your offerings, doesn’t mean they have bad experiences, it just means they perhaps don’t know where best to offer their input.

That is why it is best to take the first steps and you could do this by sending them a follow-up email after they’ve made a purchase, thanking them for their business, and expressing that you hope they continue to choose your services. Within these kinds of emails, you could have links to your social media accounts, where they could leave a review. You can also encourage customers to leave their experiences or even share images of products as part of contests and campaigns, directing them to use your own hashtag. Offering an incentive will often encourage them to do this, like a discount on their further purchases or a special gift.

Make Your Own Hashtag

On the subject of hashtags, these are a great way to make it easier for your customers to find everything on social media accounts related to your business. Simply by using your brand name or one of the key things that set your business apart and including it with the hash symbol in your posts and in your profile pages, you can establish that as your hashtag.

Then you just need to encourage your customers to use that hashtag whenever they are talking about your company or offerings.
